In recent years, wearable technology has become ubiquitous in our society. However, the integration of digitized wearables within the fashion industry still has a multitude of unexplored options. This suggests there exists an opportunity to extrapolate the profitability of wearable technology to the realm of luxury fashion. Our project aims to create a set of wearable digital earrings that can be customized to show designs to complement and enhance the user’s style. Our primary challenges will be balancing functionality with comfort and style. The device will encase all peripherals, including a microcontroller and power supply, and be controllable via iOS app over Bluetooth connection. This device would have a variety of use cases from daily jewelry to clubwear for people who want an elevated accessory that provides near infinite customization options. There are very few competing technologies in this area, and no commercially available products that provide the features we intend to implement with our system.
