This week I worked on a preliminary model for the project. This gave us an idea of what it would look like and how we would be making it. We will be using a combination of 3D printing and laser cutting to make all of the parts we cannot purchase. The main base piece, transparent in the image, will be 3D printed and the majority of the other remaining parts will be laser cut. This model is very crude and doesn’t even have all of the fasteners necessary to put it all together, this will be included in the next model. Moving forward I will be attempting to make it smaller, as you can see there is plenty of unnecessary space. I will also be attempting to streamline the tilt mechanism, it looks a little clunky right now and I have ideas for improving it. I will be composing a shopping list tomorrow so that we may begin purchasing components on Monday.
