Larrabee was the code name for Intel’s attempt at a discrete GPU micro-architecture. This GPU was meant to compete with NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards. However, the project was shut down due to the underwhelming performance stats that the project yielded. Our project aims to recreate/improve the Larrabee design to be able to compete with the GPUs of its time in visual processing.
To demonstrate the architecture we are going to implement it on an FPGA and then show that we can make maximal use of the FPGAs resources through traditional software programming techniques.
