Sanya’s Weekly Report – 9/19/2026
This week, I focused on researching the technical requirements and potential challenges associated with integrating our sensors into the overall soil monitoring system. I looked into how different soil conditions could affect sensor accuracy and consistency, particularly for sensors such as CO₂, NPK, and soil moisture. I also researched the requirements for the O₂ sensor and identified the need for a pump to ensure that it can obtain reliable measurements. This helped our team identify sensor accuracy and calibration as an important risk that we will need to address before integrating everything into the full system.
I also contributed to our decision to replace the ammonia sensor with an NPK sensor. After comparing the types of information each sensor could provide, we determined that directly measuring nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium would be more useful for evaluating soil nutrient conditions and potential over-fertilization. The NPK sensor also fit better within our budget and overall system design.
In addition to the sensor research, I contributed to developing our proposal presentation and discussing the technical challenges and initial approach for the system. I am currently on schedule with my expected progress. Next week, I plan to continue researching and validating our sensor choices and work on understanding how the individual sensors will connect and communicate with the rest of the ECE components in our system
Sanya’s Weekly Status – 9/26/26
This week, I budgeted the entire project and placed all of the component orders. I also did higher-level research into each component to understand its purpose, requirements, and how it will fit into the overall design. In addition, I started building the app’s frontend, laying the groundwork for how users will view the sensor data and interact with the system. I also helped develop the design presentation by adding to the solution approach and use case slides.
SANYA’s WEEKLY STATUS – 10/3/26
This week I helped prepare the design presentation and also take feedback. I also worked with Aravind to finalize the irrigation system and budget it into our entire project. I ordered the new CO2 sensor and continued designing the overall system. Starting Monday, we plan to start working with the sensors that have arrived individually.
Sanya’s Weekly Status – 10/17/2026
This week, I developed a design plan for the sensors I will be testing, outlining how they will be evaluated and integrated into the overall system. I also made updates to the app interface to account for the machine learning model, ensuring the interface can better present the model’s outputs and help users interpret soil conditions and potential recommendations.
