Anjali’s Weekly Status Report – 9/19/26
This week, I worked on creating an early-stage bill of materials so that my team and I could make sure the number and types of sensors we are using for our project would stay within our budget. A large portion of my time was spent researching and comparing different sensor options, including their cost, functionality, and how useful their measurements would actually be for evaluating plant and soil health. Through this research, we ended up making some changes from our original plan, such as switching from an ammonia sensor to an NPK sensor. Overall, we were able to identify sensors that should work for our MVP while staying well within our budget, which gave us more confidence that our current design is realistic and that we are not trying to incorporate too many sensors. In addition to the early stage bill of materials, I also spent time developing our proposal presentation and doing further research into the technical challenges and initial solution approach that we presented this past week.
At this point, I think my progress is on schedule with what we expected. Next week, I want to create a more finalized list of components so that we can begin submitting purchase order requests, while also developing a clearer idea of the full system design and how all of the ECE components will work together.
Anjali Pillai Weekly Status Report – 9/26/26
This week I worked on the quantitative design requirements as well as the implementation plan for our design presentation. I did some research into figuring out the dome size and other quantitative requirements of our product. I don’t anticipate many issues this coming week as we can start building once materials come in and we have a clear picture from the design presentation. I think our schedule is on track and we are making good progress.
Anjali’s Weekly Status Report – 10/3/26
This week, I continued working on making sure our design requirements are well thought out and compatible with the sensors included in our bill of materials. Since we have ordered many of the materials we need and are waiting for them to arrive, we are using this time to make sure we have a solid design plan in place so that we can begin working efficiently once the sensors arrive. Additionally, while working on the design report, we have been able to go into more detail about our design and make sure our plan is clearly documented.
I don’t anticipate any major issues this coming week. I feel good about our current design plan, and we can incorporate the feedback from our presentation into the report. Once the materials start coming in, having a thorough design plan will also make it much easier to begin implementing our design.
Anjali’s Weekly Status Report – 10/17/26
This week I put a lot of energy into the design proposal documentation that we had to write. Also, after talking with professor Byron we realized that we need some more technical details about the ECE difficulty of our project so I also spent some time researching different approaches for the ML model in our project before landing on a weighted 0-1 scale system for each aspect of soil health for all the plants.
I don’t anticipate issues this week. The materials have finally come in so this week I will be spending a lot of time on actually building the SoilSphere and making sure that there all the parts work together and we have everything that we need.
