Completed this Week
We successfully integrated the force-sensitive resistor to stop strumming when the user releases pressure. Additionally, we implemented an initial velocity calculation algorithm, but it still requires further calibration. This week we also received our extra ESP32 and IMUs, so we were able to get the whole system running.
Collaboration with the Music and AI course
We conducted continued testing sessions with musicians from the Music and AI course, using their feedback to refine several key parameters such as strum sensitivity thresholds, force-sensitive resistor pressure requirements, and the balance between angle change and acceleration detection. Their insights have been invaluable in guiding our design improvements.
Significant Risks
Velocity calculation remains our primary technical challenge, as detailed in the previous status report. With our initial version, we need to further calibrate it and think about potentially implementing a machine learning model.
Changes Made to Existing Design
We reverted from the ball tilt sensor back to the original IMU sensor, aligning with our initial design specifications. We also modified the force-sensitive resistor behavior to stop strumming upon release, creating a more authentic guitar-playing experience.
