This week, I helped with working with the API for the ACHD database of air quality measurements. In addition to this, the team and I continued to refine and nail down our design requirements for Jaehyun’s presentation next week, which will be important for our project trajectory. I also started working on a paper prototype for the Sniff Visor so that we could have a shared visual and spacial understanding and clarification of the planned dimensions the Visor. This helped with further refining the design of the Visor as we discussed the design requirements our project must meet.
This week I also introduced the team to Cody Soska, who we believe will be a very valuable resource for our project. He gave us advice on the types of materials we could consider for 3D printing and/or laser cutting parts for our Sniff Visor and Sniff Station, which we will be discussing and testing in depth at the construction stage of our project timeline.
Regarding the schedule, I think we are still on track, though we are currently focusing on the software side of things as we wait for more parts to arrive.
Next week, I plan to construct a more complete cardboard prototype as we will be taking measurements of the POGOH bike over the weekend. In addition, we will hopefully have all the parts we need and will be able to pin down a more definitive layout for the innards of the Visor and the layout of the sensor suite, and will be able to start working on the testing and hardware side of our project.
