Chess is a popular game for all ages. There are many apps to play chess against the computer online. However, many people feel that playing on the screen doesn’t make for as good of an experience as on a physical chess board. However, the Covid-19 pandemic made it even harder to play in person with a friend. That’s where our chess board comes in.
The board is a standard chess board with some additions. A camera is mounted on the top of the chess board. The bottom of each square has an LED. Once the player is done with their move, the camera clicks a picture of the board so the AI knows what the player did. Then, LEDs light up to indicate the move that the AI wants to make.
The aim of this project is to get as close as possible to replicating the experience of playing chess in-person with a friend.
