Tarana’s Status Report for November 7th
At the beginning of the week, we discussed ethics and how it relates to this class, which got us considering it in the context of our project. We were able to consider the ethical implications of our project and the kind of politics driving a need for it/the politics it would catalyse with its creation. Also in the beginning of the week, we met to discuss what we had learned from integration test #2, and talk about what we should change going forward, given how the electrodes and the hardware interface with the game. We went over how we wanted to move forward and make tweaks in the game given our data collection methods and smooth out the kinks in it.
I also did a lot of research into our intended classification algorithm. I found this lecture from CMU’s 10701 and these notes from MIT to be particularly helpful in that endeavour. I further began to plan out how we would implement it on paper, and have sandboxed a Matlab version of SVM code. Next week, I hope to add our signal data to this algorithm, just to be able to test how our data and the way that it is represented will integrate with the rest of it. We are falling a few days behind schedule, and Thanksgiving is fast approaching, so we are working hard to make sure we remain on track, and use the slack time from there to catch up in the places where we are behind.
